For most people, thoughts of spring come along with feelings of joy and serenity. Endless celebrations are welcoming the flowery season and saying salutations to the cold.
Unfortunately, if you’re like me, you hate the flowery season. Spring brings along sleepless nights due to blocked sinuses, not to mention the battle with itchy eyes, scratchy throat and runny nose.
The struggle is real when it comes to living with sinusitis. I’ve always wanted someone to tell me how I could make it easier for myself. Lucky for you, I can be that person for you. Here’s how you can make your sinusitis battle easier this spring:
Create a humid environment
To moisten your mucus membranes, create a humid environment to help you unclog your sinuses. You can do so by drinking water more often and making use of a humidifier if you can afford one. If not, no need to stress; You can simply boil water in a pot and put your face over the pot. Make sure to cover your head with a towel so that the steam doesn’t escape.
Decongestants are medicines that help relieve a stuffy nose. They reduce swelling in your nasal cavity and help ease the sinus pressure. Examples of decongestants are Nasal spray and Antihistamine pills.
Sleep, sleep and sleep
Surprising? I know! Sleep is right next to laughter when it comes to being the best medicine. Sleeping with your head elevated drains mucus and also relieves sinus pressure since gravity drains the mucus and helps you breathe easier.
Using Vitamin C
Yes, Vitamin C has been exhausted since the beginning of the pandemic, but it truly helps a lot. It reduces sinus inflammation and again, relieves sinus pressure. Check out Dietary Armour this Winter for details on the benefits of vitamin C!
There you have it. Now you’re all set and ready to battle sinus this season!
