Lockdown, quarantine, skyrocketing COVID-19 cases coupled with those of panic, anxiety and depression. How do we deal with all of that? Keeping yourself in check through practicing self-care helps dealing the crisis better. Self-care: sounds fancy and indulgent, doesn’t it? Why is it relevant?

Boosted confidence, self-worth and self-esteem

Self-care enables us to unlock self love in depth. When dedicate time, love and all things nice to ourselves, we begin to appreciate our best abilities, flaws, strengths and weaknesses which majorly shape self-esteem and self-worth. Appreciation and knowledge of oneself that comes with self care also underlies unmatched confidence levels.

Enhanced mental and physical wellbeing

Self-care does not always have to do with the mind; the body, physically is also involved. Quite frankly, it helps us to stay in tune with bodies and states of mind. Being in a better space both physically and mentally, helps us define our capabilities and essentially helps us stay motivated to do all that is there to do.

Betterment of relationships

We give out that which is within us. Self care helps put us in positions where we’re able to show up and be there for others. We’re able to show the love, kindness, affirmations and compassion to/for others because all of that is within us. It also helps us say NO to things that do not align with our brands. Talking of alignment, self-care in essence helps us realise what’s best and worth maintaining, in terms of all kinds of relationships we have.

No matter how humdrum life seems right now, let us not put self-care on the back-burner. It is crucial for our mental, emotional and physical well-being. Let us stay reminded that we’re worthy of love and remain atop our every priority list.
