Happy To Be Gay

Love is one of the most precious emotions any living being can possess. Love is a fundamental part of all our lives and no one on this earth should be denied the right to love or to be loved. It comes in various forms and it is experienced differently around the world, but what makes it similar and special is that love is genuine and pure. Love is love.

Heterosexuality is a romantic attraction, sexual attraction or sexual behavior between persons of the opposite sex or gender. This would make homosexuality the opposite of heterosexuality, because it is the romantic attraction, sexual attraction or sexual behavior between members of the same sex or gender. Along with bisexuality and heterosexuality, homosexuality is one of the three main categories of sexual orientation within the heterosexual-homosexual continuum. Scientists do not know what determines an individual’s sexual orientation, but they theorize it is caused by a complex interplay of genetic, hormonal and environmental influences, and do not view it as a choice.

While some may believe homosexual activity is unnatural, scientific research shows that homosexuality is a normal and natural variation in human sexuality and it is not in and of itself a source of negative psychological effects. There is insufficient evidence to support the use of psychological interventions to change sexual orientation.

People should be allowed to love whom they want without them fearing for their lives, if their love is consensual.  The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexuals, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ+) community has been shunned for decades for being different. They have been ostracized and discriminated against for not conforming to the heterosexual norms of society. They have become victims of prejudice for believing they are entitled to a basic human right: love.  Love is not confined to a specific race, religion, social background or gender. There are bigger problems in this world than people of the same gender having legitimate feelings for each other.

Homophobia is unjustified and some people hide behind religion to validate their hatred towards the LGBTQ+ community. Ignorance and religion are two of the biggest factors that contribute to laws being legislated to stop homosexual couples from legally recognizing their love or from adopting a child in need of a loving home. People are entitled to their opinions, but when it takes away another human being’s basic right to marriage it becomes problematic. It is extremely selfish, because these couples have a better chance of lasting longer than most heterosexual relationships.

Homosexual people do not deserve the hate they receive, because they ask for nothing but equal rights. They ask to be treated like human beings.

One cannot truly choose whom they love, so homosexuality is not a choice. Homophobia on the other hand is a choice.

Heterosexual people have rights 365 days in a year while homosexual people get only 30 days in a year. The month of June was chosen for the LGBTQ+ Pride month to commemorate Stonewell riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. As a result, many Pride events are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBTQ+ people have in the world. This is why I, Francineth Bauleth strongly believe homosexual people are valid human beings and they deserve to be treated as such.

Thank you so much for this amazing article. I truly do love the LGBTQ+ and I hope the world would not refer to them as outcasts but as brothers and sisters🌹❤
