How To ACE Your Final Exams

Exam season is approaching soon for the JSC and NSSC students and may not seem like a big deal at the time, but they most definitely are. They are extremely important for your future and can have a dramatic impact on your life. The grades you get are of great importance to you. NSSCO/H results can determine the institution that you go to. The entry requirements for university differs.

Believe it or not, NSSCO/H are often used to determine if you are suitable for a University course. Most of the university courses are keen on looking for at least C grades in English, Maths and sometimes, Science. There are also some of the universities courses that go further and ask you for your NSSCO/H subject grades relevant to the degree you wish to take.

Below are some tips that can help you ACE your final exams.

  • Use Time Management Skills

You need time management skills right here. Plan for your studying time so you don’t need to cram the night before the exam. Cramming for an exam hours before can cause anxiety and fear which can lead to failing an exam because it was difficult to retain all the chapters in a short period of time.

Tip: Use a study planner – it’s effective!

  • Eliminate DISTRACTIONS

Distractions can happen easily while studying from surfing the net AKA social media, listening to music, etc.  Its best to turn off everything if you can’t handle seeing incoming notifications.

Less Distractions, More Focus.

  • Create a Study Group

Its proved that when exchanging knowledge with fellow students, you are more likely what remember what they were saying.  By doing this, you also get the motivation you need.

  • Review Old Exams/ Exercises

When studying, it is very important to go through past exam papers and exercises. Most teachers like to repeat a few questions from previous papers.

For Namibian students, preferably grade 9, 10 and 12; check out the Ministry of Education website to get yourself some Past Exam Papers. Namcol booklets help a lot too.

  • Get a Good Night Sleep

Pulling an all-nighter isn’t the solution although it works for many. No need to fuel up your body with coffee, instead grab your pillow and sleep!

  • Eat A Healthy Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Research shows that pupils and students who eat breakfast perform better in exams because it helps you FOCUS.

Its just a test. Take a deep breathe & speak good grades into existence. Make sure you read the instructions very carefully .

Tip: Wear a watch so you can pace yourself.
