Meet the 15 year old Juanita, one of the most enchanting young female models in Namibia as she answers a few questions.
How did modelling come about?
My fascination for modeling began when I was 9 . I always walked to the magazine side at any grocery shop and saw these gorgeous and confident cover girls on the front page of magazines and they always looked so confident and comfortable in their own skin no matter their skin tone, height or religion. They were doing what they loved the most and most definitely enjoying what they do. After that I started watching every fashion show that was on television, such as Project runway, Victoria’s secret Fashion show, Americas Next top model and they all gave me the “wow”, I would love to be there feeling.
Who inspires you as a model?
My inspiration is Winnie Harlow. She is a Canadian fashion model, spokesperson and activist.
Water is at the center of it all. Correct skin treatment and sun screen (if you have acne prone skin like I do). If it is make-up day, always apply a thick moisturizer so your foundation looks FLAWLESS, keep it light and natural, liquid eyeliner is a must. Do lots of relaxing too. Cleanser-Toner-Moisturizer
What was the most interesting shoots you have ever done?
The most interesting fashion show I have done was my first photoshoot with Ace. The theme was Cow-girl; the stables and the horse just made it so complete.
Could you tell us a bit more about your modelling agencies and which works best for you?
ACE MODELS Namibia is a Modelling School that equip students to live their everyday life to their fullest. ACE models have branches all over South Africa, and that give some international opportunities like the AMNC, as we do get an opportunity for scouting by reputable modeling, dance and drama agencies, with opportunities to be scouted even for the American markets.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling?
Find a reliable agency that not only offer modeling development, training and management but also career guidance. Be careful for people selling unrealistic oversees modeling “dreams”, “human trafficking is real”!
Do you have anything else you would like to become or just be a full-time model?
To be a full-time model would be a dream come true, but looking into reality I will have to strive for a career… will it be Medicine. Design.. IT? What will the future hold for me?
Your plans for the rest of 2018?
Victory in grade 10 is surely top of the list. Take part in the AMNC (Ace Models Nationals Conference ) in Johannesburg. Would love to go on more adventures and make memories that I will not regret, and meet lots and lots of interesting, mind-blowing people. Hint ..hint.. I would love to go on that Thailand family holiday we always dream off.
What do you like about modelling?
Where do I start. I love the judgement free zone in class, the friends on another platform. I love the photo shoots and fashion show, illustrating the different themes. I love everything to do with runway.
I love the butterflies in my stomach and feeling like I’m at the edge of a cliff holding on like I’m about to fall off type of feeling before I walk onto the ramp that’s when I knew I developed a passion for modeling.
